Truth Love and Light! Elyjah Tribe music is all about creating more love, abundance, and prosperity by evolving into your best version of who Yahweh created you to be. I learned the art of performing starting as a 7 year old in Gospel mega churches. This is where I learned at an early age the power of singing from your soul. I am originally from San Jose, California and was raised there for the first 20 years of my life. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree as a double major in Communication and Music for 5 instruments from Saint Mary’s College of California.Most of my instrument training was self taught more than anything else as I currently play 11 instruments. After my experiences of growing in what we call ” The Bay Area, California” it taught me that people from all different backgrounds can come together to heal the world. I was mentored from the age of 10 to 17 by Louie Bellson the world-renowned drummer who recorded albums with James Brown as well as Duke Ellington. Hence my music love for really great music followed throughout my childhood. My late grandmother Barbara “Big Mama” Jackson taught me how to play organ and piano by ear and the rest was history in the making. I played piano for 1 hour a day for 3 years and from that point on I knew no musical challenge could stop me from spreading my music to the world. Over the years I’ve been through struggles like homelessness, divorce, abuse, trauma, depression and anxiety just like every other being on this planet. I use my music to heal and I create to motivate and inspire the world. In today’s world there are very few leaders left who practice simply being a good person and creating music that our: daughters, aunties, mothers, grandmothers, and children worldwide can be proud of.
Life is about dancing, creating art, mastering the mind, body and spirit. Elyjah Tribe’s mission and music is to help others get through the trials of life using it as a tool. Currently I travel and tour with my original music and bandmate Myron Hendley one of the best saxophonist in the world. We met at an open mic in Denver, CO and from that moment on we have been best friends and bandmates ever since.
Overall the echoing theme in all of the music I make is all about self healing and sharing your pain so others can heal. Through learning the Divine truth that you’re never alone in experiencing life. I always believe that we have to be the change that we want to see instead of waiting on someone to create the life we’ve always dreamed of. In my mind we all have 2 choices: 1. To become an Angel on earth spreading love or 2. We choose to walk a path of emptiness without true joy in our hearts and souls. Elyjah Tribe chooses to fly! Truth, Love and Light!
